Agri-Business Incubation Programme is a platform that aims to develop entrepreneurship skills and mindset of agri entrepreneurs in Province-1. The incubation program offers a full package for the growth and scalability of agri- businesses by providing Business Incubation, Mentorships, Trainings, Networking, Access to Market, Agri-Business Expert Sessions and Investment Platform

The program comprises of 3 different stages prolonged up to 6 months of intensive learning and mentorship. The first stage consists of an 8-day boot camp with intensive learning on building entrepreneurial skills and starting a new venture. 

The boot camp is an experiential lab-based learning, and business development Startup Bootcamp developed by Idea Studio Nepal in collaboration with Oulu University of Applied Science, Finland. 

In the second stage, the selected agri-business ideas will go through 6 months of incubation period focusing on developing both the business and technical skills of the start-ups/entrepreneurs through one-on-one mentorship, networking,and various industry expert sessions. 

The third stage marks the end of the 6 months-long incubation program, where the agri ideators start-ups/ entrepreneurs will pitch their ideas for investment at the Demo day after validating their products and services during the incubation.

The vision of the programme is to foster innovation in value-added sustainable agriculture products and services of agri-businesses, ultimately developing the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Province 1.

Who is it For?


Agri-Business Incubation Programme is targeting innovative agri business ideas and agri startups in value addition and processing of products in the following sectors: Key focus areas of the incubator are: Maize Dairy Cardamom Vegetable sectors

The Incubation Framework

The programme starts with the application process followed by a careful selection of 10 agri-businesses ideas to go forward with the 6-month long incubation process. We are solely based on incubating agri-businesses in province 1 of Nepal focusing on four sectors, namely maize, dairy, cardamom.
During the program, the agri business ideas, start-ups/entrepreneurs will go through intensive learning sessions with experienced mentors from their related fields. We make the business ideas market-ready by the end of the process providing them with an ample amount of knowledge and skillset to take their ideas to the next level.

We have divided our program into 3 main phases:

  • Bootcamp – Learning Phase
  • Business Incubation – Planning, Implementing & Validating Phase
  • Demo day – Unveiling Phase

Phase 1: Bootcamp - Learning Phase

After the careful selection of the 15 agri-business ideas, the start-ups/ entrepreneurs go through an eight days business incubation bootcamp. The learning of the 8 days bootcamp will be divided into 2 stages.

Stage 1: Experiential lab based learning

In this stage, the entrepreneurs will go through three days of intensive experiential lab based learning where they learn entrepreneurial skills and develop an entrepreneurial mindset. Experiential lab-based learning is designed using the double diamond human-centric design thinking using project-based experiential learning. Experiential learning is instilled in such a way that the effect is tangible in retrospect.


Workshop Overview:

The experiential lab-based learning focuses on developing entrepreneurial skills such as:

  • Self-knowledge/self-awareness

Stage 2: Business development startup bootcamp

In this stage, the entrepreneurs will go through three days of intensive experiential lab based learning where they learn entrepreneurial skills and develop an entrepreneurial mindset. Experiential lab-based learning is designed using the double diamond human-centric design thinking using project-based experiential learning. Experiential learning is instilled in such a way that the effect is tangible in retrospect.

Workshop Overview:

  1. Develop a sustainable and applicable business model
  2. Understand the customers
  3. Adopting strategies to grow the business
  4. Understand the revenue model

Phase 2: Business Incubation - Planning, Implementing & Validating Phase

In this phase, we support the incubated businesses to develop the MVP/Prototype, develop business strategy and access to finance to be market ready and implement the learnings from the initial boot camp and training sessions to develop a roadmap to take their business forward. In this phase, the entrepreneurs will go through several business-related training such as conducting primary and secondary research, preparing a business plan, financial projection, managing business cash flow etc. They will also be provided with first-hand business operating experience to the entrepreneurs by several industry visits and networking events which will help them reduce the gap in their knowledge.

Phase 3: Demo day

In this phase, we support the incubated businesses to develop the MVP/Prototype, develop business strategy and access to finance to be market ready and implement the learnings from the initial boot camp and training sessions to develop a roadmap to take their business forward. Eligibility criteria

  • Innovative value-added sustainable agricultural products and services
  • Ready to iterate, pivot and adapt innovative approaches to grow their business
  • Individual or group of individuals working in the field of maize, dairy, cardamom, and vegetable sectors
  • The founders must be Nepalese citizen
  • Entrepreneurs/Start-ups can be a registered company and is in good standing in the state of incorporation
  • Willing to provide time-commitment for the entire programme
