About the Programme

The program comprises of 3 different stages prolonged up to 6 months of intensive learning and mentorship. The first stage consists of an 8-day boot camp with intensive learning on building entrepreneurial skills and starting a new venture.
The boot camp is an experiential lab-based learning, and business development Startup Bootcamp developed by Idea Studio Nepal in collaboration with Oulu University of Applied Science, Finland.
In the second stage, the selected agri-business ideas will go through 6 months of incubation period focusing on developing both the business and technical skills of the start-ups/entrepreneurs through one-on-one mentorship, networking,and various industry expert sessions.
The third stage marks the end of the 6 months-long incubation program, where the agri ideators start-ups/ entrepreneurs will pitch their ideas for investment at the Demo day after validating their products and services during the incubation.

Background to the Project

On 14th June 2021 Idea Studio Nepal joined hands with NAMDP Phase II as the Consulting/Implementing Organization that will lead the establishment of an Agri Business Incubation Center in Province 1.

It will also run the incubation program and foster partnerships with at least three local institutions to build their capacity as future business incubators Province 1. Idea Studio Nepal, an organization working in entrepreneurship ecosystem development in Nepal, provides encouragement, resources, space, exposure, learning, networking, and investment opportunities for socially conscious business ideas.

It also provides a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs who seek mentorship, training, counselling to startup, scale-up, and link-up their businesses.

Nepal Agricultural Market Development Programme (NAMDP) Phase II, also known as Sahaj, operates under a bilateral agreement between the Government of Nepal and the Government of Switzerland. Sahaj is a Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) project, implemented by a consortium of Swisscontact (as the lead agency) and the Center for Environmental and Agricultural Policy Research, Extension and Development (CEAPRED).
Idea Studio Nepal along with notable local institutions of Province-1 – Ministry of Land Management Agriculture and Cooperatives, Purbanchal University School of Management and Morang Merchant Association will be working in close collaboration to establish an Agri-Business Incubation Center and run a pilot incubation program in Province-1.
The strategic collaboration will provide a foreground for the local institutions in Province-1 in developing their entrepreneurial aptitude to capacitate individuals in Province-1 that are looking for a platform to launch or accelerate their business ventures.

Who is it For?

Agri-Business Incubation Programme is targeting innovative agri business ideas and agri startups in value addition and processing of products in the following sectors:

Key focus areas of the incubator are:

  1. Maize
  2. Dairy
  3. Cardamom
  4. Vegetable sectors

Incubation Framework

The programme starts with the application process followed by a careful selection of 10 agri-businesses ideas to go forward with the 6-month long incubation process. We are solely based on incubating agri-businesses in province 1 of Nepal focusing on four sectors, namely maize, dairy, cardamom.

During the program, the agri business ideas, start-ups/entrepreneurs will go through intensive learning sessions with experienced mentors from their related fields. We make the business ideas market-ready by the end of the process providing them with an ample amount of knowledge and skillset to take their ideas to the next level.
